Amelia & Curly
During her cancer treatment at Stony Brook Hospital, Amelia found a special source of comfort. Every time chemo day rolled around, Eileen would visit, bringing along a puppy named Curly for Amelia to hold throughout her sessions. When Amelia finally beat the illness and headed home, Eileen gave her the best parting gift imaginable: Curly. "Amelia inspired me with her strength and courage," Eileen shared. "Curly was destined to be her best friend."
Paisley’s Promise
This is Gracie, a local child who at the age of 7 started feeling severe headache and didn’t know why. A scan discovered a large mass in her brain. Her physical therapist had suggested a dog for exercise and to help with balance. Labradoodles of Long Island gave her Paisley. Here is Gracie at 14 with her best friend!
Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish of Connecticut contacted us about a 9 year old boy named Luca. Luca was battling cancer, and his one wish was to have an Australian Labradoodle. They asked us for an Australian Labradoodle and we happily obliged. We wanted to help Luca to have a puppy to keep him company, lift his spirits, and make his wish come true!
Puppy Wings
This is 7 year old Harrison. His family was in a horrific accident and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. His whole family was admitted but sadly Harrison passed away. Before he did, his parents donated as many organs as needed to save multiple children and adults. Harrison's younger sister was having a difficult time due to the loss of her brother so her therapist recommended a puppy. When the family contacted Labradoodles of Long Island, we donated a puppy. Upon picking up the puppy, we realized the puppy was born the day Harrison passed. Here is a picture of Harrison's family at one of our bi-annual Doodle Romps.
